Daycare Communication Competency Course
Through this course, providers will learn:
- Speech-language milestones and common communication disorders for ages 0-5 years old
- Early signs of communication delays and the early intervention referral process
- Evidence-based intervention strategies to reduce communication breakdowns, support transitions and empower children across play and classroom routines
- Techniques for supporting all communication modalities (e.g., speaking, AAC devices, gestures)
- How to create language-rich classrooms that support all learners
Literacy Course
Participants will have a better understanding of developmentally appropriate practices when providing for a literacy enriching environment. Participants will immediately be able to:
- Rearrange their classroom to promote literacy development
- Use simple and effective literacy enriching strategies
- Make referrals to a health professional regarding confounding factors
- Use simple literacy strategies and create a literacy rich daily scheduleĀ
