This course is designed for early childhood programs committed to equipping their providers with the essential knowledge and tools to support early communication development, prevent developmental gaps and promote the early detection of communication disorders. Through this course, members of your institution will learn:

• Speech-language milestones and common communication disorders for ages 0-5 years old

• Early signs of communication delays and the early intervention referral process

• Evidence-based intervention strategies to reduce communication breakdowns, support transitions and empower children across play and classroom routines

• Techniques for supporting all communication modalities (e.g., speaking, AAC devices, gestures)

• How to create language-rich classrooms that support all learners

 

This program is suitable for a staff development day and may qualify for continuing education or professional development credit, depending on licensing requirements.
